• General Fire Safety
The risk of fire is one of the greatest threats to health, safety, property, and the delivery of services. Fire prevention and protection programs promote an approach to fire safety and prevention that includes responsibilities for all employees regarding the reduction of fire hazards at their workplace. This course has been designed to help you meet all regulatory and government requirements including the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code. You will be presented with the responsibilities of workers, supervisors and managers related to fire prevention and protection. Classification of fires, proper fire extinguisher use, fire detection, and emergency response planning are also topics that are presented. Mastery of this Elective course qualifies you for credit towards the Safety Specialist (SS) certificate. The SS certificate has been awarded Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
