Asbestos is a fibrous material used in many industrial applications because of
its incombustibility, strength and flexibility. It is also useful as a reinforcing
or binding agent when combined with cement or plastic. Unfortunately, asbestos is
also a dangerous substance that increases the risk of lung cancer, mesothelioma,
and asbestosis. In this course you will be presented with information on the
hazards associated with asbestos exposure, personal protective equipment used
when dealing with asbestos, air monitoring methods, and abatement methods for
different risk levels. Mastery of this Elective course qualifies you for
credit towards the Safety Specialist (SS) certificate. The SS
certificate has been awarded Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by
the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration Maintenance
(RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH). For more information regarding this certificate please visit swiftlearning.com
