Fire prevention and protection programs promote an approach to fire safety
and prevention that includes responsibilities for all employees regarding
the reduction of fire hazards at their workplace. This course was developed
to help employers and managers meet the requirements of the Alberta Occupational
Health and Safety Code, Part 10
.
The course describes fire safety procedures as an important part of an operational
risk management program. You will be presented with information on responsibilities,
the classification of fires, proper fire extinguisher use, fire detection, and emergency
response planning.
Mastery of this Elective course qualifies you for credit towards the
Safety Specialist (SS) certificate. The SS certificate has been awarded
Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety
Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration
