• Distractions and Proactive Driver Training
In the past, courses such as this have been called "Defensive" driving courses. Recently, these courses have been appearing as "Pro-active" driving courses. The purpose of this change in terminology is a hope that drivers will not only defend themselves against collisions, but be pro-active in avoiding dangerous situations and protecting all road users. The safety of all road users should be everyone's first priority and this course will present you with a list of items that should be inspected and the most common driver distractions. Suggestions for how to avoid becoming distracted while driving are also presented. Mastery of this Elective course qualifies you for credit towards the Safety Specialist (SS) certificate. The SS certificate has been awarded Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
