Lack of acclimatization, poor physical fitness, and other human and medical factors increase susceptibility to heat stress because the body is already in a weakened state. This course includes information on the hazards and health risks associated with high heat work environments, key measures of heat stress and how heat stress may be measured in the workplace, heat illness symptoms and treatment, and simple controls and strategies for managing heat stress. Mastery of this Enrichment course qualifies you for credit towards the Safety Technologist (ST) certificate. The ST certificate has been awarded Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
