Knowing where the hazards are in your workplace is important to creating a safe environment. Recognizing hazards and how they can affect you, and others around you, will help you to eliminate and/or control the risk of accidents in your workplace. Hazard recognition is the first and most important step in the hazard assessment and control process. This course was developed to aid employers, contractors, and workers meet the requirements of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code, Part 2. In this course, you will be provided information on identifying hazards in your workplace necessary for the development of an appropriate control strategy. Mastery of this Core course qualifies you for credit towards the Safety Practitioner (SP) certificate. The SP certificate has been awarded Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
