When an accident occurs, your knowledge as the first person on the scene could mean the difference between life and death.
In this course, you will be shown how to assess and react to an emergency scene, list steps that you can take to
deal with injuries and how to aid an individual that has ingested a poison or toxin. Information on
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is also presented. This course is based upon the training available
from the Canadian Red Cross and other similar organizations. This First Aid course is an awareness level
review of important first aid principles and procedures. If a person needs First Aid training to meet the
Part 11 requirements they need to take a St. John's or Red Cross course. The learner taking this course will need to
confirm with the company they are going to work for if this meets their requirements. Mastery of this Core course qualifies
you for credit towards the Oilfield Safety Practitioner (OSP) certificate. The OSP certificate has been awarded
Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and
Registration Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
