All incidents have causes. If the causes are not identified and eliminated, the same
type of incident may occur again. However, there are often four, five, or more root
causes of an incident. In an investigation, you must identify as many of these causes
as possible. It is important that all incidents are reported and investigated in a consistent
way, as this will make analysis much easier. In this course, you will be presented
with information regarding the who, what, when, and how of critical
incident investigations. Topics include investigation procedures,
data collection strategies, and reporting. This course has been designed to help you meet
all regulatory and government requirements including the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code.
Mastery of this Core course qualifies
you for credit towards the Safety Practitioner
(SP) certificate. The SP certificate has been awarded Certification Maintenance Points
(CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration
Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
