• WHMIS 2015 (GHS)

WHMIS has been updated to reflect elements of a United Nations initiative called the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). The updated WHMIS program aligns Canada's hazard classification and communication requirements with those used in the United States and other major trading partners. Currently, contractors may begin to use new WHMIS 2015 requirements for labels and SDSs for hazardous products sold, distributed, or imported into Canada, or they can continue to use WHMIS 1998 standards. They may comply with either set of rules until the final implementation deadline in December 2018. Gemini has developed this course for both WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015. As many workers have completed WHMIS 1988 we have included a pretest for 1988 version to assess their knowledge. The content will adapt based on the test results to shorten training time if they demonstrate competency. Mastery of this Core course qualifies you for credit towards the Safety Practitioner (SP) certificate. The SP certificate has been awarded Certification Maintenance Points (CMP) by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) and Registration Maintenance (RM) points by the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH).
